Note-taking 2.0: Taking slide shots at a conference

by Veit on 08/19/2009

Yesterday, I attended Mobility 2030 in San Francisco. Pretty good event, but that’s a different story. As soon as the lights were dimmed and the presentation had started, the iPhones came out. Basically, people were taking pictures of certain slides during the presentation. I guess this is note-taking 2.0

Of course I did the same. Being situated in the middle of the room, I was glad that I brought the USBfever 2x telephoto lens for my iPhone (see our review). The only direct comparison between a regular iPhone image and one taken with the 2x telephoto (see below for 100% crops) turned out a bit blurry, because I did not brace myself for these shots, but if you lean on a wall or put your elbow on your table for added stability (as I did for later shots), the images shot with the 2x telephoto came out very readable.

What a difference a 2x telephoto can make, as seen in these 100% crops. I braced the iPhone in subsequent shots and the images came out very readable.
