From the app creator’s notes: “How many times have you been focusing on your shot and when you take the picture you miss the tiny camera button and miss the shot?”
From my notes from today’s outing to Angle Island in the San Francisco Bay Area: “How many times have you been taking the photo and then switched off your iPhone only to later discover that Big Camera Button did not save the shot?”
The reason why I took this app with me on today’s outing was pretty simple: Click anywhere on the screen to take the shot. Thus, I could hold the iPhone up or maybe even on foot level and still fire the shot. At least, that was the idea.
It’s possible – if you are patient enough to wait for the app to snap the shot and then be especially patient for it to save it. Just taking the shot seems to take as long as it takes Apple’s camera app to take and save it. So once you have the shot “in the bag”, you move on with your life. And thus interrupt the saving of the image. In short, I missed so many shots that I gave up on this app even before we were half-way across our way to Angle Island. When I stepped off the ferry, the app was not on my iPhone any longer.
While Big Camera Button sounds good in theory, it just doesn’t deliver.
Verdict: Not recommended.
