As a follow-up to Joe’s excellent post about storage options that help you to avoid hard drive failure, there is one area that needs additional coverage: Power. To be exact, uninterrupted power supplies (UPS) and how you can use them to ensure that your valuable gear and data will not be harmed in case of power-outs, brown-outs, power spikes or hefty power fluctuations.
