iPhone 3.0 update bricked my iPhone 3G

iPhone 3.0 update fail brick @ iphonephotoshow.com iphone photo iPod TouchUpdate: As of 12:30pm Pacific, I could connect to the iTunes store server and my iPhone was activated. I still got the -4 error, but at least I could use the phone, although I could not synch with iTunes. 5 minutes later that worked and I’m not getting error -4 any longer. My iPhone is working again. Hurray!

Just downloaded the iPhone 3.0 update to my iPhone 3G (running 2.2.1) and it’s bricked as of right now. After restarting with the update installed, iTunes reports an error -4. I hope this means that the iTunes store server is down, so once it’s back up, my iPhone will be reactivated and restored. But for now, I’m without a working phone. Lovely!

Call me a fool – I should have known not to be the first to upgrade, but wait at least a week until Apple sorts out its various upgrade problems. It looks like I will never learn.
